Even those of you who haven’t heard the name Jason Bell before have probably seen his images. With a portfolio brimful of portraits of a-list celebrities such as Scarlett Johanson, Johnny Deep and David Beckham, plus film poster for movies such as Love Actually, About a Boy and Bridget Jones, you’d have to been living under a rock for the last decade to miss them.

In the latest video by the good people over at Phase One, we get to join Jason Bell behind-the-scenes on a recent fashion shoot for Vanity Fair involving the lovely actor with the best name ever: Benedict Cumberbatch.

Benedict, who turns out to be an engaged and compliant subject to work with, climbs up a tree and jumps backwards into a murky lake. All in the sake of art.

Jason Bell, on the other hand, uses three powerful Profoto Pro-8 flashes, cranks up the power and overpowers the sun to effectively turn day into night. Photogenic dogs, softboxes and overheated smoke machines also included.

Always a please seeing passionate people in work. Good one, Phase.
