Headquartered in London, UK, the leading-edge footwear specialist OFFICE features a unique product range and strong global brand partnerships appealing to an extensive target group. Established in 1981, the brand follows an omnichannel approach that includes using the latest Profoto technology to create captivating visual output that converts.

Using Profoto equipment to get the most out of product photography

Going one step further, the members of the studio team at OFFICE utilize Profoto content solutions to push the boundaries of what they can achieve with product photography - resulting in eye-opening visual content for all channels.

Achieving groundbreaking results using HDR photography

Utilizing the HDR technique, Charlie Smith, part of the studio team at OFFICE, was able to create groundbreaking imagery of a pair of silver Air Jordans with Eclipse. To create this dynamic effect, “each image was shot three times - all with different exposures. One image is properly exposed, one is underexposed by two stops, and one is overexposed by two stops.”

“This technique requires the camera to be totally still, so each image is in the same position, which is something Eclipse is perfect for.”

Next, export the raw images, open them in Photoshop, and merge them together to create a single image. By doing so, you achieve a greater level of detail than you would by capturing a single shot. “This technique requires the camera to be totally still, so each image is in the same position, which is something Eclipse is perfect for.”

When editing the image, you can then manually adjust various parameters, such as sharpness, noise, and color saturation.

To achieve effects such as floating shoes without spending time using fishing wire to tie them up, Smith likes to leave the doors of the Eclipse open when shooting content. “We can normally compensate for losing the light from the LED panel on the open door by upping the other lights or just increasing the exposure slightly during postproduction.”

Improved studio workflows through consistent angles

Since using Profoto equipment, the team at OFFICE managed to streamline studio workflows by achieving consistent angles for their core product shots.

The retailer, whose name originated from then displaying products on old office furniture, has a selection of shots used for every product. “These shots are common to every product we shoot, and this consistency has greatly improved the look of our product landing pages,” says Smith.

“The softer constant light from the LED panels has made a huge difference to the accuracy of our color reproduction, actually to the extent where we have been able to remove color matching completely from our postproduction process.”

LED panels eliminate the need for color balancing in post-production

Our automated Profoto solutions use award-winning LED lights, ensuring the highest level of color accuracy when capturing your products. Shooting content at OFFICE, the soft, constant light from the LED panels in Eclipse has made a huge difference in color consistency.

Ensuring consistent colors is not only key to making your customers happy with their online orders but also saves lots of valuable time in postproduction. Smith is pleased with the efficiency connected to using Profoto equipment: “We have been able to remove color matching completely from our postproduction process.”
