Message for all Profoto B1X battery users

Dear Profoto user,

In June 2017, we discovered a potential safety issue with two manufacturing batches of Li-Ion Battery MkII for B1 and B1X (product number 100399). As a consequence, we executed a product recall for these two batches.

The recall only concerns batteries with manufacturing dates 2017-09 and 2017-16 (YYYY-WW) sold in the period May to June 2017.

We've been able to collect almost all recalled batteries, but a few are still not accounted for. If you purchased your battery in May or June 2017, please see below how to determine whether your battery must be returned.

We are sorry for any inconvenience.

This is how you determine whether your battery must be returned to Profoto

The serial number label on the Li-Ion battery MkII for B1 and B1X (100399) is marked with "Date of manufacture”.

If Date of manufacture is 2017-09 or 2017-16, the battery must be returned to Profoto in exchange for a new one. In this case, please contact the dealer from whom you purchased your battery.

See below how to identify your battery's Date of manufature.

This is how you identify a B1 battery

The Li-Ion battery for B1 (100323) does not have any “Date of manufacture” on the serial number label. These batteries are not part of this recall; they can be used with both B1 and B1X. See example below.
