Walk Through a Wedding is a yearlong video series in which we get to follow wedding photographers Justin & Mary Marantz as they set out to capture a young couple’s most special day.

The series consists of 20 videos, each one revealing the story and the lighting setup behind a certain image. This is the sixth video, showing Justin & Mary shooting the couple walking down the aisle.

Here, Justin & Mary faces a challenge that most wedding photographers are familiar with. As wedding photographers, they have to light the couple to best of their ability and get the shot. But at the same time, they cannot interfere in this most special moment.

“Something that we’ve found is that by using the setup that we do, we’re actually able to get away with using the light at more locations than we ever were when we were putting our flashes on-camera,” says Mary Marantz. “There are a couple of reasons for this. The first is that because the lights are standing behind us, behind the congregation and behind the guests, they’re actually less obtrusive that they would’ve been if they were following the guests around. The other is that by using the setups that we’re doing, we’er able to camouflage the flashes into the background and have them blend, so that often the guests don’t even notice they’re there. ”
